Activity 1: Open Sesame!

Collect a variety of small plastic jars for your child to practice opening and closing. When she first learns how to open a jar, the top should be slightly loose so that she can remove it easily. As she gains coordination and hand strength, your toddler will begin to remove and replace the lids with more ease. Motivate her to open the jar by placing a small treat inside for her to retrieve.

Activity 2: Scrunchies Are Fun

For this activity, you will need a toilet paper roll and several colorful ponytail holders or hair scrunchies. Show your toddler how to stretch open each scrunchie and place it around the toilet paper roll. She can alternate the colors to make a fun pattern. When she puts them all on, have her take them off and start over. This task is entertaining, and it’s good for bilateral skills.
